P&H Milling

P&H is the largest Canadian-owned milling company. The P&H Milling Group sources wheat from Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada to produce quality flour and cereal products. The lineup includes hard red spring wheat flour for breads and other bakery products, soft winter wheat flour for cakes and cookies, as well as semolina flour for pasta, organic flour, and atta flour for chappati. In our specialty milling operation in Saskatoon, we also mill pea fractions.

From its mills in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Acton, Hanover, Hamilton, and Cambridge, Ontario; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Lethbridge, Alberta, the P&H Milling Group supplies flour to customers throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Iceland, and Pacific Rim countries.

Your Role

The Operations Manager leads and develops the site management team to drive efficient plant operations and continuous improvement, while ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety and Food Safety/Quality standards. Reporting to the National Operations Manager, this role requires strong industry expertise and leadership to build and maintain effective relationships with employees and customers.

Day to Day

  • Lead and direct operations to ensure efficient production of consistent, high-quality products.
  • Monitor performance, identify gaps, and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Enforce company, site, and regulatory standards, including health, safety, BRC, and food safety compliance.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Manage operating budgets and control expenses; oversee capital projects to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Hire, train, and develop staff; manage performance, employee relations, and conflict resolution.
  • Foster strong communication, teamwork, and employee engagement.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and technical support to operations teams.
  • Collaborate with corporate stakeholders and other sites to meet business goals and implement best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years in food manufacturing (preferably flour milling or grain processing), including 5+ years in leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and coaching skills.
  • Experience with continuous improvement/Lean methodologies and analytical problem-solving.
  • Experience with budgeting and capital/operating expense management.
  • Familiarity with working with organized workforce (preferred).
  • Ability to travel.
