Maintenance Superintendent – Export Grain Terminal

Position Summary
As Maintenance Superintendent, you will be responsible for ensuring maximum equipment uptime, safe execution of maintenance activities, and long-term asset reliability across terminal operations including conveyors, ship loading systems, bucket elevators, dust collection systems, mobile equipment, and supporting infrastructure. The successful candidate will lead a skilled maintenance team while partnering closely with operations to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective terminal performance.Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all terminal maintenance activities including mechanical, electrical, structural, and preventative maintenance programs
- Develop and execute preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime
- Supervise maintenance personnel, contractors, and third-party service providers.
- Plan and prioritize maintenance work to support terminal operations and vessel schedules
- Manage maintenance budgets, inventory, spare parts, and capital improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, regulatory, and food safety standards
- Support troubleshooting and rapid response during operational disruptions or equipment failures
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and maintenance best practices
- Utilize CMMS systems to manage work orders, maintenance records, and asset tracking
- Participate in shutdown planning and execution
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to support terminal throughput and growth objectives
Qualifications
- Minimum 5–10 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably within grain handling, bulk material handling, ports, terminals, mining, manufacturing, or heavy industrial operations.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience managing maintenance teams.
- Strong understanding of conveyors, bucket elevators, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, bearings, gearboxes, and industrial electrical systems.
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
- Working knowledge of CMMS software systems.
- Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Commitment to workplace safety and operational excellence.
- Trade certification, engineering degree, or related technical education is considered an asset.
