Your Role
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Finance Manager is responsible for undertaking aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget, and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.Day to Day
- Oversee corporate accounting functions and coordinate related activities
- Support Corporate Controller in hiring, training, coaching, and developing finance staff
- Promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the finance team
- Effectively utilize team resources to achieve departmental goals
- Implement and coach performance management systems for finance staff
- Liaise with payroll to ensure accurate financial data and accrual setup
- Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and related reporting
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations
- Review and approve cash disbursements
- Lead finance team through month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of financial statements and reports
- Monitor inventory reporting and month-end evaluations
- Ensure accurate setup and reporting of bank reconciliations, balance sheet accounts, and accruals
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives to align with organizational and sales goals
- Assist Corporate Controller with year-end audit planning and execution
- Oversee implementation and development of financial systems and reporting tools
Required Qualifications
- A post-secondary education in business or accounting
- CPA (CGA, CMA, CA) a definite asset
- 2-3 years’ experience in industry corporate accounting in a senior role
- An ability to coach and mentor junior team members
- Strong organizational, decision making, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong working knowledge of computerized accounting systems - Advanced skills using MS Excel and the rest of the MS Office Suite
- Experience with Microsoft D365 Business Central would be considered an asset.
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
